In
2003 the Daily Mail became so concerned with the state
of Art in Britain Today
that they instigated the Not the Turner Prize and invited
all figurative artists in the land to send in their work.
Out of the thousands of pictures that were submitted in the form
of photographs and jpegs,
only 400 were chosen to proceed to a more rigorous judgement
of the original.
Those that pass will be exhibited in a leading London gallery.
The
painting above, of an abandoned open-air cinema in Nicosia which
I used to pass on my way
to work every day, is one of the 400. I will update this site
in June to give the latest news.
